The Monitor tab presents you with easy to visualize views of your backups and restores.
Overview
The Overview provides you with a calendar view of your most recent backups, highlighting which dates backups occurred with color codes indicating if the latest backup on each date was good, had issues, or was interrupted and did not complete. If you click on a particular date on the calendar, it will show all backup and restores that occurred that day.
When you click on a specific backup or restore on the Overview, it will take you to the Details for that backup/restore. The details will provide information about the backup, including the backup log, a list of any errors or warnings encountered during the backup/restore.
From the Details, you can click on other backup/restores listed there to pull up this information for other jobs done by the backup client.
For example, in the screen capture below we see that the most recent completed backup was on November 12th, and four changed files were backed up.
When a backup or restore is running, the Overview shows a dynamic view of what is transpiring, as shown below.
In the above "live" example, the top widget area shows that amount of files that are to be backed up and the total size of the files, and what percent of the backup is complete and the estimated time to completion. It also includes the upload and download network "bandwidth" the client has.
In addition, please note the "Stop" button which you can use to terminate a backup or restore.
While a backup or restore is running, the middle portion of the window shows information on the status of the current file being backed up, such as its name, size, and progress.
Below the overview metric widgets, a table will show listing any issues encountered if any, which have occurred during the backup or restore so far. In the example below a warning was thrown for while attempting to perform the disk imaging operation.
If the text description of the warning or error is not sufficient, you can look up the Microsoft System Error Code (MSDN) here.
